Ross first joined the team during the lockdown in 2021 with one goal, to step on stage, this was something he had always wanted to do but had just never committed to the process. Like many he started off training from his home, squatting in his living room and deadlifting in his garden.

The gyms opened and wee quickly transitioned his programming over to the facility he was going to use. From the start of coaching we saw a huge body compositional change, where by each week I was upping his food and then he was getting leaner. This did eventually level out after a few months but what we saw was a new found level of muscularity and I gave him the nod to compete the following year (2022).

Everything we have done so far has been calculated to bring the best look possible to stage. Along the way Ross would be keen to learn the ‘why’ behind decisions we made and I was more than happy to explain things in detail. This meant he understood the process which undoubtedly made it easier.

We will have one run in the mens physique class before taking the step up to bodybuilding in a couple years. Ross had an excellent first showing at PCA first timers, picking up a British invite, and then went on to grab 2nd and 3rd in the the two shows that followed.

Here is what Ross has to say about his journey:

“I reached out to Vaughan in April 2021, I had known about him prior to this and wanted to start with him earlier but due to always working away from home at the time I knew I wouldn’t have been consistent with meals/training etc.

Stepping on stage & competing is something I’ve wanted to do for years and picking the right coach was essential for me. I wanted a coach that was going to be honest and realistic with what I could achieve, Vaughan does exactly that. I believe he’s one of the top coaches in the UK. He invests so much time into his clients & is always looking to improve his knowledge in the bodybuilding scene. He’s always happy to take the time and explain in depth anything I’d like to know as to why changes are being implemented and the effects the changes will have. These are just a couple of reasons as to why it was a no brainer to start my journey with him.

Since starting in April last year, my physique has improved a lot more than I was expecting, having that second pair of eyes to watch over your progress makes a huge difference. I’ve gained a lot of valuable knowledge in all aspects of bodybuilding from nutrition, training approach & how to apply myself to reach my goals

Vaughan has helped change my mindset in a positive manor & realise what I can actually achieve terms of moving forward as we look to move into an off season. I’m just coming the end of my first year with him & I’ve competed in my first Men’s Physique show with 2 shows left before we take the step up to BB.

I’m really happy with what I’ve achieved in such a short space of time and look forward to the next part of the journey with V in my corner. This is just the beginning…”
