Neil Rennie

Neil rennie

Neil came on board during the pandemic in 2020 having just had his shows cancelled 3 weeks out. Albeit a tough pill to swallow he got to work and we set our sights on competing in Mens Physique in 2021. Although he had a fairly successful season, taking a win at in 2bros first timers, we both knew he was more suited to the bodybuilding class

We decided after that first season that the next time he stepped on stage, it would be as a bodybuilder. That meant he needed to train hard, eat a lot of food and push his bodyweight up to new levels. He did it all without hesitation, stepping on stage as a novice bodybuilder in 2022 and then again in 2024.

Neil stepped on stage in 2021 at 160lbs, fast forward three years, he stepped on stage at 206lbs. 40lbs of stage weight is a unfathomable amount of weight to put on in such a time frame and thats all down to Neil and his relentless drive to be better. In the time we’ve worked together I’ve not only seen him become a better bodybuilder, but in the same breath, I’ve watched him turn into the man he his today and the successful business owner that goes with it.

It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of Neil’s journey to date and I can’t wait to see what he does moving forward.

In 9 shows together he has collected:

8 x 1st
2 x 2nd
1 x 3rd

Here is what Neil had to say about his journey:

“As lockdown hit mid 2020 I found myself in a very strange place in life. As a 1 to 1 personal trainer business ceased immediately. I had been prepping 6 months for a show that was cancelled 1 week out and in all honestly this left me at the lowest point I had ever felt in life, with no clear direction and a lack of purpose and fulfilment.

By pure chance I came across one of Vaughans podcasts and it immediately struck a chord with me and I was straight on the phone. His personal touch, genuine care, empathy, knowledge and passion was quite evident from day 1.

Fast forward 4 years and not only am I a better athlete than I’d have imagined but a better man, with a wife and a successful online coaching platform. I say this without hesitation; but I would not be here if it’s wasn’t for Vaughans guidance and care over this time.

In 2021 we prepped for a men’s physique show that due to restrictions we had no idea if it would even run. But we ticked the goal of getting on stage and one the beginners class at 2 bros weighing 160lbs. Whilst it was great we knew bodybuilding was where my future lay.

Over the next 18 months we drove up bodyweight and performance before prepping for first timers bodybuilding and stepped on stage at 180lbs in great condition taking home a bag full of trophies. What next?

Rinse and repeat, but this time we had established a great understanding and relationship that I believe solidified what was the most productive and fruitful years of my bodybuilding and life. This season we came in at my all time best condition with a stage weight of 206LBS and swept the novice classes at PCA level.

40lbs of stage weight in 3 years; and we aren’t done yet. To me the investment of years working together has been the key to our success. Building a relationship of true trust, care and respect has pushed me further than I would have ever dreamt and ignited a passion in me that has transcended far beyond the gym.

Vaughans passion for his athletes is absolutely clear to see and he feels it all with you. Always on the other end of the phone within minutes and more than adept at dealing with the monthly Rennie breakdown.

I couldn’t thank or recommend Vaughan highly enough and as long as I decide to do this sport, Vaughan will be the man in my corner wether he likes it or not..“
